CENTRAL WISCONSIN BABE RUTH JUNIOR LEAGUE
League Information
A Babe Ruth League offers a transitional and competitive baseball experience for players aged 13 to 15-years-old. It serves as a crucial bridge between the smaller fields of youth baseball and the full-sized dimensions of high school, college, and professional play.
This division of the nationally recognized Babe Ruth League is designed for teenagers who have graduated from Little League or similar programs. One of the defining features of Babe Ruth Baseball for this age group is the use of a standard nine-inning baseball field with 90-foot base paths and a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches. This introduction to the “big diamond” is a significant step in a young player’s development.
Key characteristics of the Babe Ruth 13-15 Division include:
- Advanced Rules: Unlike many younger leagues, players in this division are permitted to lead off bases and attempt steals at any time, mirroring the rules of high school and professional baseball. This introduces a more strategic element to the game for both offensive and defensive players.
- Focus on Skill Development: The larger field and more advanced rules are intended to further develop a player’s skills in hitting for power, base running, and defensive strategies.
In essence, the Babe Ruth League provides a platform for young, developing players to hone their skills on a regulation-sized field while competing under a rule set that prepares them for the next level of the sport.
